Team Members

Our research team brings together faculty and students with expertise in social gerontology, social work and social policy:

Dr. Amanda Grenier (principal investigator) is the Gilbrea Chair in Aging and Mental Health at McMaster University, Director of the Gilbrea Centre for Studies in Aging, and Associate Professor in the Department of Health, Aging and Society at McMaster. She is also an affiliated researcher at CSSS Cavendish, CREGÉS, and Keele University in the United Kingdom.

Dr Jean-Pierre Lavoie (co-investigator) is a researcher at CREGÉS and an Adjunct Professor in the School of Social Work at McGill University and at Université du Québec à Montréal.

Dr. Tamara Sussman (co-investigator) is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at McGill University, an affiliated researcher at the CSSS Cavendish, and a member of CREGÉS.

Dr. David Rothwell (co-investigator) is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at McGill University, Faculty Member at the Centre for Research on Children and Families at McGill, and Faculty Associate at the Center for Social Development at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Valérie Bourgeois-Guérin (co-investigator) is a researcher at CREGÉS and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).

Rachel Barken (research assistant) is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology at McMaster University and co-chair of the Gilbrea Centre for Studies in Aging student group.

Amanda Bradford-Janke is the Research Manager of the Gilbrea Centre for Studies in Aging.

• Maya Cerda is a Research Coordinator housed at McGill University and CREGES. Her work focuses on the questions of housing and long-term care for older homeless people (with Tamara Sussman).
